Kent, Mariam and co.

The other day I tried to get a few pictures of Bubby while he was sleeping so sweetly. I cranked the heat up in the house, opened the big windows and threw a white sheet over some pillows. The result is not professional by any means, but I like it. I think the top one is my favorite, but I am not sure. Hmmm???? I know I am biased, but he is such a handsome little guy. Here he is sleeping in his blessing outfit (see the post below for details) I like this one to, with the crooked little smile. I took this picture to remind myself that he is the same baby that was in my tummy not that long ago. Despite the many ultra-sounds, we were never able to get a good face shot on him, this is why. Somethings don't change. He had his 2 month checkup the other day and is doing fantastic. He is 9 lbs 5 oz, 21 3/4". So growing fantastic. It is such a big event, blessing a baby. It is kind of the baby's coming out celebration. There are friends and family there to help celebrate the big day, and of course lots of food to eat afterward. All of this can cause quite a bit of stress and anxiety, but in the end it was a perfect day. For those of you unfamiliar with the LDS practice of baby blessings it is when a baby is given a name and a blessing by a worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holder (in this case the father). Other Melchizedek Priesthood holders (friends and family members) stand in the circle with the father too. It is a beautiful way for our Heavenly Father to bless the lives of his smallest children. And this last Sunday it was Bubby's turn. I love dressing my babies in their white blessing clothes. There is just something tender about it. While reading, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" the kids came heard a nickname that seemed to fit baby H. Bubby. I don't know if it will stick, but it fits him for now. Here is little bubby looking all dapper in his onesie tie shirt. A few cute grins. I think we have more pictures of Bubby smiling than anyone else. It's not because he is such a smiling happy little guy, quite the opposite. So, when he seems happy and is grinning, we grab the camera. It isn't all bad though. He is doing much better. He is even starting to sleep on his own during the day. Hopefully the screaming fits will go away with time. I love to see other kids wear the clothes my baby wore. I now know it is even more fun when the other kid is yours too. The picture on top is H wearing the same outfit as D 6 1/2 years earlier. They are definitely brothers. One difference. D was about 3 weeks younger in the picture and was filling the shirt out to the limit. It was still a little big on H....

It is hard to believe that it has been 4 years since our little princess came into our lives. She was so small and sweet. Now she is so big I can't believe it. She still has that sweet little personality that we all love. K was a lucky little girl this year, she got to have two birthday celebrations. This one was at grandma's house. We made her a rainbow cake ( found here ). Here is Grandma helping her cut a big piece of cake. It didn't look as pretty as the one online, my frosting was too soft and the layers kept slipping. But, it tasted okay and still had a little wow factor. At home a few days later, K got a heart shaped Boston Cream Pie (not a pie at all, that has always baffled me). She got a few fun presents for her birthday. One of her favorites was a wedding dress and veil I made for her. A cute girly dress for a cute girly girl. I made her a fun birthday outfit. Baby H has been home with us for 6 weeks now. During that time we have had lots of snuggle time, hundreds of dirty diapers and very little sleep. He is a sweet little guy, but a very needy baby too. Here are a few pictures of our past few weeks. Lizzy took these pictures of H a few weeks ago(check out her photo blog). They are sweet pictures, but he was pretty grumpy for his photo shoot. Bath time. H hates being changed, but usually settles down when he is in the water. You can see K's little hands. She likes to be pretty involved with everything for this little guy. Sometimes K is really sweet with her little brother. Other times she thinks she is being sweet, but it is a bit scary for me. She is pretty sure she is big enough to take care of the baby herself. That includes picking him up out of his bassinet, trying to walk with him and she tries to turn him around while she is holding him. D is such a funny kid, and I swear that he is getting bigger everyday. He has always had a twisted sense of humor, but it is getting more and more twisted by the day. The other day Kent told D to put his socks on, he ignored his dad and kept playing. Soon Kent was saying, "You better have your socks back on the next time I see you." Pretty soon D came up and said, "Dad I have my socks on". This is what we saw. How could we get upset, he had his socks on. We never told him how we wanted them on. He has also turned into the toothless wonder. He is now missing 3 teeth, and has a 4 tooth on its way out. He will only have his two bottom teeth left in the front. I guess he will be on a liquid diet. At his last dental check up the x-ray showed his new teeth, they are big ones (they looked like chicklets with tic-tacs under them).
