Sewing maddness

I have been trying to make some fun skirts for K the past few days. I really wanted to make her a pettiskirt, and thought I would practice a bit with the ruffle foot before I tried with the real stuff. I made this skirt out of some scrap cotton/polly fabric and some toile. I think it is a fun little skirt. She wore it proudly with pink leggings and a pink shirt with blue dots. After three tries, I finny got this skirt done. The picture does not do it justice. It is full of ruffles and frills. I am hoping to have another one done in time for her birthday. If I actually get the hang of this, I will post a tutorial on my wired mommy blog, but for now I will just try not to throw my machine out the window when the tread breaks, and breaks.

Fun in the cold-Ice skating

My niece had a birthday party at the ice-rink, so we took the kids and had a bit of fun.  K LOVED watching all the pretty girls skating, she couldn't wait to get on the ice.  I was so glad they had skates in her size.   She was so happy on the ice.  Poor Kent thought his back was going to break.  I didn't get out on the ice to help because, well I didn't want to make things worse (see the following blog). D really took to the ice.  I feel bad that I don't have a picture of him skating without the walker thing.  He ditched it and had a blast.  I was impressed at how well he did for his first time on the ice.   It was just so cute watching Kent and K.  She tried so hard to skate, and we had to drag her off the ice.   Here is a sweet little video of Kent teaching K how to skate.

Fun in the cold-Sledding

We took the kids to the local sledding hill for some fun.  K had to be talked into going, but then had a blast.   D immediately made friends with other kids and was off.   Here is a funny picture of Kent taking K up the hill, and Kirby taking the sled up the hill.  Do you see that enormous dog in the corner (yes that is a dog and not a horse).  Turns out our dog is alot like our boy, he immediately made friends with the giant dog and played and played.   So, I am not what you would call an "Outside Girl".  I like nature and whatnot, but I am not athletic or coordinated at all.  When I try to have fun outside, it usually isn't good.  K took the brunt of it this time.   Kent convinced me to take K down the hill, just once.  About 2/3 of the way down we lost control.  I panicked and grabbed K, at the same moment the sled flipped.  I ended up sliding ON K for a while.  I felt (and still feel) horrible.  I scooped her up and screaming and crying she yelled, "Mom, Dat no F...

A few of the going ons

Here are a few of the things going on in our home.   I have been trying to learn how to sew a little better.  K is totally into wearing nightgowns, so I thought I would try to make one.  After 3 tries and pattern modifications, I finally had a success.  I made it out of an old sheet, so no real loss.   K got a real haircut.  Grandma cut her hair into a little bob, and gave her some bangs.  I think it is pretty cute.  She was so good for her hair cut.   For those of you wondering, here is my pharmacy jewelry.   These are earings for... well a "good time". These are my Excedrin earrings.  I think they are pretty fun.   And my favorite, the "having a bad day"  pendent.   I think they turned out pretty cute.  I made Amanda a charm bracelet out of pills that turned out really fun.. Well, there we are.

I left my camera in ID, and life must go on

In response to Miss M, I will try to update my blog.  The problem, I forgot my camera in Id. and I feel lost without it.  I can't show you the pictures of the really cool prescription drug beads that I made for a pharmacy auction (there are WAY too many pharmacist in my family.  My family tree is full of pills, and nuts...some nutty pills.), or show video of the dog and kids playing in the snow.   On a side note, anyone great at vocal training.  I agreed to help with a Stake "production" of Women at the Well.  I thought it would just be a little thing, where I would be in the choir, or something.  NOW, I have a solo and a duet that I am really not ready for.  I have not really ever been a solo singer.  This will be a huge step for me.  The worst part is the music is really low and then really high.  I don't know what I am doing.  I think I might just get an ulcer.
