New Milestones

We have had many milestones these past weeks.   D has learned how to read!  I am so proud.  We haven't really worked on reading, but he seemed interested so we checked out some easy readers from the library.  To my surprise, he sat down with me, sounded out the words and read the book.  I couldn't believe it.  He is a smart boy, but we are still not sure about sending him to kindergarden.

K got a new tricycle.  It's pink, purple and so cute.   She loves to sit on it, but she is still working on peddling.

Everyone knows a princess is not ready to ride without her sparkling sunglasses.

K CAN WEAR PIGGY TAILS!  I am so excited that she finally has enough hair to put piggies in.  She thinks she looks pretty cute too.  I don't know what it is, but these little pig tails make me so happy.

I guess that all the fun has tuckered K out.  She was playing one min., the next she was out cold.

Love the new color. So how old is your son? Lydia will just barely make the Kindergarten cut-off when she turns 5, even closer than Eliza and I debated keeping E home one more year but caved. She's doing great, but I'd love to get your opinion!

D will turn 5 in July. It is such a hard decision. He is academically ready, but social maturity is another issue. From what I understand, boys socially mature slower than girls, so it is usually a good idea to hold them back when there is any question.
That said. . . I think girls can benefit from waiting too. But. . . you don't want the kids to be board either. It is such a difficult decision.

That is so exciting that D is reading! Summer birthdays are hard when it comes to deciding whether or not to start school. I have 2 brothers with summer birthdays and my mom waited with both of them. It was a hard decision but I think she is very grateful she did it. Each child is so individual though. Good luck deciding. K is adorable! She is so petite and girly!

Keep singing until the end of the song

Since my last post we lost 2 more precious babies.  On September 30, 2016 we lost our beautiful baby girl Felicity at 5 months.  Almost a year later, we found out we were expecting agin.  Sadly on Dec.1, 2017 we lost our little boy, Elijah.  I need to write their stories, but the feelings and emotions are still very raw and difficult.  While I hope to share them someday, today is not that day. Today is December 21, just a few more days until Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas.  The lights, smells, delicious food, family and friends, and especially the music.  I love to sing Christmas songs and look forward to it every year.  But this year it was hard to sing the songs I love so much.  This year singing about the miraculous birth brought sadness and even anger.  I have struggled to feel the Christmas Spirit. I imagine it is difficult to experience any loss during the Christmas season.  A holiday that focuses so much on family, fri...

Disneyland and California

Wow, what a fun adventure we had. It was a perfect vacation. Everything was fantastic, and we had a blast. Here is a quick little run down. (the pics are not in order, sorry). Here is the mandatory picture of the kids in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Just a cute picture of K up in a tree house on pirate island (formerly Tom Sawyer's island) One of the biggest highlights of the trip was D being chosen to participate in Jedi training camp. He was so excited he was actually shaking. It was AWESOME. He got to learn some Jedi moves from a Jedi master, and then he got to fight Darth Vader. It was really fun, he is still talking about it. Here we are on one of the Bug's Life rides in California Adventures. The highlight for K was seeing and talking to real princesses. She was nervous at first, but quickly warmed up. She was so cute and sweet, it almost made me cry (the 2 hr. wait in line cured me of any tears). She kept telling us how Belle had a dress "all the...

The joy of family pictures

Why is it so hard to get a good family picture.  I would be happy if everyone just looked at the camera.  Here are our latest pics. This was our best family picture.  As you will see, K did not want to cooperate.     Isn't that fun.  All the crying and the whining, and that was just Kent.   The kids and the dog took some cute pictures.   Kent and I did okay.  Together we were a mess.  By the way, this is the picture I ended up using to represent our family.  It seemed the most fitting.   Someday, (sigh) someday we will have a great family picture.
