Halloween fun

We had lots of fun this Halloween. Here are a few of the highlights.
K was such a pretty little harvest princess. I made her little dress out of some sparkly burt orange organza I (bought years ago) and brown satin. I think she looks absolutely adorable. It was funny that with her hair she pretty monochromatic.
Here's Bubby the sock monkey. (I love how the roundness of the hat and ears add to the roundness of his cheeks.)
K was so excited for her pre-school Halloween party. She was ready by 9:00 that morning, school stars at 12:00. Here she is with her friend Thimblenna .
D was cute in his schools Halloween parade. He was strutting his stuff, giving high 5's and striking poses everywhere he went.
Here we are on our dreary trunk-or-treat. It started pouring 3 seconds after the picture. I went in a Hawaiian dress. Even though it was rainy and cold, the kids had a blast.
D was funny about the details of his costume. He wanted Superman hair. Problem is, he has VERY strait hair that lays flat on his head. We actually worked longer on getting the little curl in his front than anything else.
Bubby was nice and warm for the trunk-or-treat. One bonus of sitting with dad instead of mom is dad will give you candy. He sucked on that sucker until it was completely gone.
We celebrated Halloween on Sat., so Sun. we had a creepy feast with our neighbors. Here are a few of the treats.
Snake bake anyone? Filled with rat, frog and whatever else the snake ate.
Vampire punch complete with drippy blood.
Here is a plate of the goodies: bleeding brain, worms, witch finger, eye balls, and a bit of snake. It was really fun, and the kids loved it.
Hope all of you had a fantastic Halloween. Now bring on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

that food is really creative AND it looks disgusting at the same time. Great job.

Keep singing until the end of the song

Since my last post we lost 2 more precious babies.  On September 30, 2016 we lost our beautiful baby girl Felicity at 5 months.  Almost a year later, we found out we were expecting agin.  Sadly on Dec.1, 2017 we lost our little boy, Elijah.  I need to write their stories, but the feelings and emotions are still very raw and difficult.  While I hope to share them someday, today is not that day. Today is December 21, just a few more days until Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas.  The lights, smells, delicious food, family and friends, and especially the music.  I love to sing Christmas songs and look forward to it every year.  But this year it was hard to sing the songs I love so much.  This year singing about the miraculous birth brought sadness and even anger.  I have struggled to feel the Christmas Spirit. I imagine it is difficult to experience any loss during the Christmas season.  A holiday that focuses so much on family, fri...

Disneyland and California

Wow, what a fun adventure we had. It was a perfect vacation. Everything was fantastic, and we had a blast. Here is a quick little run down. (the pics are not in order, sorry). Here is the mandatory picture of the kids in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Just a cute picture of K up in a tree house on pirate island (formerly Tom Sawyer's island) One of the biggest highlights of the trip was D being chosen to participate in Jedi training camp. He was so excited he was actually shaking. It was AWESOME. He got to learn some Jedi moves from a Jedi master, and then he got to fight Darth Vader. It was really fun, he is still talking about it. Here we are on one of the Bug's Life rides in California Adventures. The highlight for K was seeing and talking to real princesses. She was nervous at first, but quickly warmed up. She was so cute and sweet, it almost made me cry (the 2 hr. wait in line cured me of any tears). She kept telling us how Belle had a dress "all the...

The joy of family pictures

Why is it so hard to get a good family picture.  I would be happy if everyone just looked at the camera.  Here are our latest pics. This was our best family picture.  As you will see, K did not want to cooperate.     Isn't that fun.  All the crying and the whining, and that was just Kent.   The kids and the dog took some cute pictures.   Kent and I did okay.  Together we were a mess.  By the way, this is the picture I ended up using to represent our family.  It seemed the most fitting.   Someday, (sigh) someday we will have a great family picture.
