A Princess turns 5

Okay, so I've been a little slow on this post.  Okay I've been really slow.

It is hard for me to believe that my little girl is 5 already (like a few weeks ago).  She is such a spunky, girly little thing and we love her so very much.  She loves everything princess, pink, glittery, girly, and fancy.  She is quite the tiny princess.
I made her a quick little skirt and shirt for her birthday outfit from the remnants of a skirt I made for my niece.

Her big birthday request was to ride a horse.  We happen to live around lots of horse lovers, so we asked a neighbor if she would take K out on a horse.  Our neighbor SERIOUSLY LOVES horses and jumped at the opportunity.  We were worried the weather wouldn't allow us a nice ride, but it stopped raining just long enough for our sweet little K to ride to her hearts desire.

Her actual birthday was pretty hectic with school stuff, meetings and Young Men's stuff.  We tried to celebrate in the moments between.  She got to ride horses as soon as dad got home, then off the McDonald's for dinner, hurry home for D's school concert then hurry home so dad could go to Young Mens...whew.  Kent raced home so we could enjoy chocolate souffle (ya, cake was not good enough for our Princess, she requested chocolate souffle).
We were all excited for her to open her BIG pink box.  What was it.......?
A CHANDELIER!!!  She leapt around the room dancing and squealing.  (Such a funny little thing)

K was also excited to get a Rapunzel dress and tiara.  Don't you love the posing.  That is all her.

The Sat. following her birthday was her Princess tea party.  We had 9 or so little princesses over all dressed up in their finest princess dresses.  My sister Lizzy came as a "REAL" princess and taught them how to act like a real princess.  They learned how to sit up strait, smile, curtsy, be polite and be kind.  They were so cute.  The hung on every word she said.
 We danced Princess dances.
Ya, I have no idea what super cool princess dance I am doing in the background, but K sure looks super cute.
Time for the Princess Tea.  My mom collected cute little tea cup sets for each girl.  They were so thrilled to have their own special set.

K got quite the fancy buffet for her party.  Chocolate dipped marshmallows (her idea), cream puffs, mini-cupcakes....
...mini cheesecake bites, chicken puffs, strawberries, pineapple, tea-sandwiches, chocolates and turkey wrap bites.  It was pretty yummy.

K got a big shell from my mom, and she loved it.  She listens to the ocean every day.
 Such a little princess.

I sure love this little lady.  She can be a bit of a spit-fire sometimes, but she has a very sweet and very kind heart.  I hope 5 will be a good year for her and she will be happy and continue to grow in every way.

Happy Birthday Princess.

Keep singing until the end of the song

Since my last post we lost 2 more precious babies.  On September 30, 2016 we lost our beautiful baby girl Felicity at 5 months.  Almost a year later, we found out we were expecting agin.  Sadly on Dec.1, 2017 we lost our little boy, Elijah.  I need to write their stories, but the feelings and emotions are still very raw and difficult.  While I hope to share them someday, today is not that day. Today is December 21, just a few more days until Christmas.  I LOVE Christmas.  The lights, smells, delicious food, family and friends, and especially the music.  I love to sing Christmas songs and look forward to it every year.  But this year it was hard to sing the songs I love so much.  This year singing about the miraculous birth brought sadness and even anger.  I have struggled to feel the Christmas Spirit. I imagine it is difficult to experience any loss during the Christmas season.  A holiday that focuses so much on family, fri...

Disneyland and California

Wow, what a fun adventure we had. It was a perfect vacation. Everything was fantastic, and we had a blast. Here is a quick little run down. (the pics are not in order, sorry). Here is the mandatory picture of the kids in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Just a cute picture of K up in a tree house on pirate island (formerly Tom Sawyer's island) One of the biggest highlights of the trip was D being chosen to participate in Jedi training camp. He was so excited he was actually shaking. It was AWESOME. He got to learn some Jedi moves from a Jedi master, and then he got to fight Darth Vader. It was really fun, he is still talking about it. Here we are on one of the Bug's Life rides in California Adventures. The highlight for K was seeing and talking to real princesses. She was nervous at first, but quickly warmed up. She was so cute and sweet, it almost made me cry (the 2 hr. wait in line cured me of any tears). She kept telling us how Belle had a dress "all the...

The joy of family pictures

Why is it so hard to get a good family picture.  I would be happy if everyone just looked at the camera.  Here are our latest pics. This was our best family picture.  As you will see, K did not want to cooperate.     Isn't that fun.  All the crying and the whining, and that was just Kent.   The kids and the dog took some cute pictures.   Kent and I did okay.  Together we were a mess.  By the way, this is the picture I ended up using to represent our family.  It seemed the most fitting.   Someday, (sigh) someday we will have a great family picture.
