Kent, Mariam and co.

I can't believe my little guy is already 6. He was (and still is) such a little miracle in our lives. He came to us fun and so happy. We got our first peak at his happy little smile minutes after he was born. That smile of his has and will continue to serve him well. D is such a happy kid. He is quick to smile and laugh, and already has a quick sense of humor. He is also very sweet and kind. He is always good for a big hug. (by the way he took the picture of himself below, I think he did pretty good) I hope this next year will be as wonderful as this one was. I sure do love my little guy. Baby number 3!!! (or Captain Huggy Face as we like to call it) I know this will not come as a shock to many of you, but we need to make official announcement. We are very excited for the arrival of our new baby the first part of Feb. So far, there has been some nausea, and a big belly already, but nothing too bad. During the ultra-sound we found out why I am showing a little sooner than normal. There were two amniotic sacs, but only one baby. So, at some point there was probably twins, but the second fetus was probably non-viable and was reabsorbed. When I first heard the news I felt a small loss, but very quickly after that I felt so grateful. If I had miscarried one baby, I probably would have lost the other. And, a singleton birth is always easier and healthier. I was so glad to see Captain Huggy Face's little heart beating fast and strong. I know how lucky I am to have a healthy baby.

Kent and I had an anniversary vacation planned, but due to unseen circumstances we are not going anymore. My question for all of you is any ideas? Do any of you know any good places to go for a weekend trip, just the two of us? We are looking for a nice relaxing getaway, but we are not sure where to go. Have any of you taken any great vacations in the Utah/Idaho area? I would love any suggestions. Thanks.

My brother and his family have been visiting from Florida. We have had lots of fun together, and because we are Cady's alot of that fun revolves around food. We had a fantastic Thai dinner the other night. The pineapple fried rice was my favorite. It was AMAZING, and such a pretty presentation. The Pad Thai was Mike's specialty. It was super yummy too. Angela and I made the spring rolls. They were pretty good too, but I think we might switch things up a bit next time. When Mike flew in we went to the airport to pick him up. Here are a few of the pics from our explorations in Salt Lake. The kids had so much fun at the I am a Child of God exhibit at the pioneer museum. They dressed up and made cute little plays. They were so fun to watch. We went to temple square and saw the Christus statue. The kids were all impressed, but K was a little overwhelmed. She was a little nervous to see him. D had his big preschool graduation the other night. He was pretty excited. He kept telling me that he had to dress up in his nicest clothes, and look really nice. I think he did a good job of that. On a funny side note, all of the kids had these little graduation caps. While I was putting D's on we had to try and stretch it a little, and not rip it, so it would fit around his head. Then I turned and looked at the kid behind us. His mom had to double over the head band so it wouldn't flop on his head. Ohhh, my little guy has a big noggin, and a killer smile. His teacher had the kids put on a really cute program. D is such a good little guy. He gave all of the kids around him high 5's after they did their little poem. When it was his turn he recited "Ba Ba Black Sheep" effortlessly. The kid is too comfortable in front of a mic and audience. We are so grateful for D's teacher Miss J. She has been sooo good for him. I just had to share some of the love my children have for me this mother's day. I received this e-mail from a good friend. In the link it names me "Mother of the Year". It made me laugh. I thought I would show it to my son and see how he reacts to all of my media attention. His reaction was definitely unexpected. When the article said, "You are awesome" D looked up and said, "you're not awesome, you are totally weak". Then he said, "I think there must be another family with a Mariam mom and that's who they are talking about" WOW!!! I was blown away by the love. Such respect and admiration is the reason I became a mother.
